WeLoveU Foundation picks up 200 bags of litter in Danville
WeLoveU hosts multiple campaigns promoting healthy living and green environments worldwide.

The Global WeLoveU Foundation filled up 200 garbage bags in an hour and 30 minutes during a recent clean-up in Danville.
Approximately 100 WeLoveU members were part of the effort on July 23 in the 2km section of De Villiers Avenue, Danville, west of Pretoria.
“Since this place is densely populated with houses, there is a lot of illegally dumped garbage everywhere,” the foundation said in a statement.
“Volunteers of various ages, including young and old office workers, who took advantage of the holiday to clean up, looked carefully around the streets and picked up everyday garbage.”
They picked up disposable plastic cups and straws, plastic bags, scraps of paper, and waste masks using reusable bags “to create a green environment.”
Katlego Makgaleng, a PR councillor in Danville and a member of the Tshwane City Council who visited the site, expressed his gratitude. “Thank you very much, our environment needs to be clean and habitable.”

He further said that “the love of Zahng Gil-Jah has touched the people of Danville”.
WeLoveU was started in the early 90s by chairwoman Zahng Gil-Jah. The name stems from the need to serve others without discrimination.
Recently WeLoveU commissioned 167 college students from 35 countries for their 2023 Worldwide Clean WORLD Movement’ in Tshwane.
The movement started in Korea in 2008, and as of March this year, 300 000 people from 72 countries, including the US, UK, Australia and Brazil, as well as Korea, have participated.
The movement not only looks to purify polluted cities, parks, mountains, rivers, and seas but also conducts ecosystem protection and environmental protection campaigns and seminars.
Founder of mini-golf hotspot, Tiny Towns in Danville, Odette Guli-van Zyl who joined the clean-up, said: “I am absolutely stunned at the outcome of the people who are diligently helping out. Thank you to the WeLoveU Foundation and to the chairlady”.
The ‘One Two Blood Donation Campaign’
WeLoveU also hosts the One Two Blood Donation Campaign, which aims to address blood shortages by spreading the culture of voluntary free blood donations.
“Blood donations is the only way to help patients whose lives are threatened by blood shortages,” the statement continued.
Starting with 10 000 people in Korea in 2004, 98 644 people from 64 countries, including the US, New Zealand, Argentina, Peru and India, have participated as of March this year. In South Africa, 32 people donated 16 000ml of blood during a drive in Johannesburg in February.

Moms’ Garden project
Another initiative that WeLoveU hosts is the Moms’ Garden Project, which looks to reduce 66 000 tons of carbon dioxide by planting one million trees by 2026.
As of June, more than 200 000 trees were planted in South Africa and abroad.
WeLoveU looks forward to continuing its work with local organisations throughout the rest of 2023.
