Mams cook out competition for charity organisation

“We are excited about the new opportunities that will arise for these farmers from this year’s Lamb Champs”.

Mams shopping center’s shops battled in a cookout over the weekend in support of their charity organizations.

Naledi Ndinisa, the center’s marketing manager, said the teams were competing to win five thousand rands for their chosen charity.

Ndinisa said that all the teams will be showcasing their skills and would be judged on the presentation, aroma, and taste.

“The winning team will walk away with five thousand Rands and as the center, we will add another five thousand,” said the marketing manager.

Six shops were partaking in the weekend’s cook out with each hoping that they would win.

Philistus Moganedi from the Spar team told the Rekord that she and the team were confident enough that they would be announced as the winner in the cookout.

“Together we have a vast amount of experience in cooking, and most of our team members have worked for various catering companies. A plus was also that at our store we also cook, so cooking comes naturally for us”, Moganedi said.

Cecilia Masombuk, a Game representative also said she felt confident in her team, adding that the team dynamic made them more dangerous than their opponents.

“We have a male in our team, a very capable male that can peel and cook at the same time. Our ingredients are out of this world as well as our marinade, so we have this in the bag,” added Masombuka.

Boitumelo Mokone, an attendee at the event, said he came to the event to taste different kinds of food that would be presented to them by the competitors.

“I am here to support the event to support my sister, she’s one of the people who is cooking, and also to experience how other people cook.

The experience would actually help me improve my cooking skills as I love to cook, so it would be nice for one to eat other people’s food, said Mokone.
