Residents enjoy prawn, wine in Kameeldrift

Residents flocked to Kameelsdrift for the best prawns and wines.

Kievits Kroon Gauteng Wine Estate welcomed hundreds of guests this weekend for the first-ever Prawn and Wine Festival in Tshwane.

From several different wine farms, two gin distilleries and the finest selection of prawns and other cuisines, residents were spoiled for choice in Kameeldrift-East.

GMC manager, Yvette Archer says that the festival was meant to bring Cape Town to Pretoria.

“This is our first prawn and wine festival but by the looks of how it turned out, I think we will be back,” Archer says.

The festival began at 10:00 on Sunday, August 6 and food was served at 11:00 till conclusion at 15:00.

A live band was on hand to keep guests’ hips swaying as they partook in the festivities.

“Prawn and wine simply go together and we don’t do that much here. Normally in Johannesburg and Sandton but we decided since there hasn’t been one in Pretoria, we should bring the experience here,” Archer continues.

The day wasn’t just for the novice and experienced wine connoisseur. Kids could also enjoy a fun Sunday out with activities like a jumping castle and face painting.

“It’s diverse. I love meeting the people and interacting because it’s never one demographic, you get people from all walks of life and that’s what is most enjoyable about this,” Archer concludes.

Kievits Kroon looks forward to its upcoming Father’s Day event in June 2024.
