WATCH: Ga-Rankuwa electronics factory burns down
Firefighters managed to contain and control the blaze even though firefighting continued until Monday morning.
Multiple sections of SVA Electronics in Ga-Rankuwa Zone 14 went up in flames on Sunday night.
The Tshwane emergency services responded to the factory fire at approximately 18:37.
Spokesperson Deputy Chief Charles Mabaso said multiple units of the electronics company were engulfed by raging flames when firefighters arrived on the scene.
“Two fire engines, two water tankers and an aerial ladder truck were dispatched to help contain and fight the blaze,” Mabaso said.

Mabaso added that the tankers had to shuttle water for firefighting operations because of the absence of fire hydrants near the factory.
He said firefighters and factory workers had to move multiple 25kg bags of polypropylene and drums of methyl ethyl ketone to safety to prevent them from catching fire.
“It has not been determined what other flammable and combustible chemicals were in the factory when approximately 20 units of SVA Electronics were gutted by the blaze.”
Mabaso said the cost of the damage has not yet been quantified and no injury was recorded.
“The cause of the fire is still a subject of investigation,” he said.
Firefighters managed to contain and control the blaze even though firefighting continued until Monday morning.
Cooling down operations were still ongoing at the time of going to press.
