TMPD condemns circulation of false advertisement of metro police trainee posts

TMPD will never ask applicants to pay any money when they apply for posts.

The Tshwane Metro Police Department (TMPD) has warned the public to be on the lookout for false posts regarding metro police trainee positions.

The TMPD spokesperson Superintendent Isaac Mahamba has warned the public to be on the lookout and not fall victim to this scam.

Mahamba said the TMPD noticed that there is a Facebook page for “Tshwane Metro Police Trainee Posts.” This page advertises TMPD trainee posts, and a link to apply is also provided.

Mahamba stated that the Facebook page purporting to provide information about trainee posts is not a genuine or official source of information.

“The TMPD advises the public to disregard any information provided on this page, and to not use the link provided to apply for any trainee posts.”

He said the TMPD did not advertise any trainee posts, therefore the link to the application forms with TMPD pictures that are circulating on social media is fake and must be ignored.

“When TMPD trainee posts are available, they will be advertised by means of proper channels, such as in newspapers, on the City of Tshwane website and at all TMPD regional offices,” Mahamba said.

He advised members of the public not to fall for these fake accounts and advertisements.

“Please refrain from responding to these applications, no matter how convincing they may appear.”

He continued by saying TMPD will never ask applicants to pay any money when they apply for posts.

Members of the public are urged to report any criminal activity to the TMPD at 012 358 7095/6.
