Tshwane residents were subjected to scorching weather in the past few days.
The South African Weather Service (Saws) said the temperature would likely drop to 18°C on Tuesday afternoon.
However, the agency further said cool sunny days were expected in the subsequent three days.
Spokesperson Wayne Venter said temperature is expected to drop late this evening.
“For today it’s fairly hot at 32°C and the drop will come overnight. On Wednesday it will still be cloudy and a bit chilly as well,” Venter.
He said sunny and clear skies would resurface on Thursday, into the weekend.
Venter said neither rain nor thunderstorms are expected this week into the weekend.
According to Saws, cold weather is expected in other parts of the country with very cold wind, and wet conditions, especially over the Namaqua and southern parts of the Northern Cape.

Rekord has prepared a few tips for residents to keep warm during the upcoming snap:
– Warm yourself up: Take a warm bath or a hot shower or put on an extra layer on to warm your body up first. It’s much easier to make yourself warm than to heat up your house, not to mention cheaper.
– Wear your favourite hat: When your ears are nice and warm, so is the rest of your body, so start from the top.
– Turn on the ceiling fan: We know that this one sounds absolutely bonkers, but believe us when we say that warm air always rises to the top. By turning your ceiling fan to its lowest speed, you make the warm air come down again.
– Close all openings: You can try and block all small openings to your house – either underneath your door or a window that won’t close properly – with a towel or something similar.
