Motorists warned of march in CBD on Friday

Put South Africa First movement will be marching to address the country’s drug pandemic on Friday.

The Tshwane metro police (TMPD) warned motorists that a march will take place in the CBD on Friday, September 15.

According to the TMPD spokesperson Superintendent Isaac Mahamba members of Put South Africa First will march from Burgers Park on Thabo Sehume Street to the Union Buildings on Stanza Bopape Street in Arcadia.

Motorists are warned of street closures and traffic congestion and thus urged to find alternative routes.

Mahamba said Put South Africa First will march to bring awareness to the country’s drug pandemic.

He said marchers would gather at 09:00 and then proceed to the Union Buildings from where “they are expected to disperse at 13:00”.

TMPD officers will be deployed to monitor the march and all the affected streets.

TMPD advised motorists to avoid the following streets during this period:

– Lilian Ngoyi Street

– Nana Sita Street

– Nelson Mandela Drive

– Madiba Street

– Stanza Bopape Street

– Steve Biko Road

– Hamilton Street

– Leyds Street

Motorists are advised to use the following street alternatives:

– Visagie Street

– Jeff Masemola Street

– Francis Baard Street

– Park Street

– Bosman Street

– Thabo Sehume Street
