North residents meet police, emergency personnel
“The hope is that with this strong relationship, there will be more cooperation and communication between the groups, which will lead to a safer and more secure community,” White told Rekord.
Pretoria North sector 1 and 2 CPF hosted a fun yet informative “get to know” your police and emergency services personnel fun day at Nina Park on Saturday, September 9.
The event included foam water games for the kids, food and drinks, and a chance for attendees to ask questions and interact with the police and emergency services personnel.

The SAPS, metro police, fire brigade and private security companies attended.
CPF sector 1 chairperson Jan White said the community got to know the police officers and emergency services staff who work hard to keep them safe.
He stated that the goal was to encourage the community to become more engaged with the local emergency services and police forums.
“This was also an opportunity to show appreciation for the work that police and emergency services personnel do,” White said.

White said the event also aimed to foster a positive working relationship between the different groups, which would ultimately benefit the community as a whole.
“The hope is that with this strong relationship, there will be more cooperation and communication between the groups, which will lead to a safer and more secure community,” White told Rekord.
The fire brigade gave attendees a demonstration of its equipment and taught them about the different types of firefighting tools and techniques.
The police also gave the children in the community rides in police vehicles, allowing them to interact with the officers and ask questions about their work.
White said the children had a wonderful time, especially after the fire department sprayed foam and water to entertain them.
“They were thrilled by the spectacle of the spraying foam and water, which was both exciting and educational for them.”
White said the feedback from the community was outstanding as more people asked how to join the CPF.

He said boerewors rolls were sold to raise funds.
“The money made will be used during our Christmas Drive when we will hand out sweets and small presents to kids as well as adults. We do this every year to show the community that we care.
“We believe that this event is a great way to give back to the community and help those in need. It is a tradition that we hold dear and look forward to each year,” White said.
