WATCH: Heroic metro cop laid to rest with a parade of honor
The beloved sergeant Peter Duvenage passed away last week when his motorcylce crashed into a tree on Sefako Makgatho Drive.

Sergeant Peter-Thomas Duvenage, a much-loved member of the Tshwane metro police (TMPD), was laid to rest on Friday in a heartfelt send-off by colleagues and community members.
His funeral service was held at Lewende Lig church in Montana, and was attended by many who loved and respected him.
He passed away last week after his motorcycle crashed into a tree on the Sefako Makgatho Drive.
Duvenage was known for his sense of humour, kind heart, outgoing personality and he will be greatly missed.
Hundreds of people including biking club members and fellow officers, gave Duvenage the final send off in style.
He is survived by his wife, three children, father as well as brother and mother.
Duvenage was a keen cyclist and part of the metro police cycling team.
A moving and powerful tribute was paid to Duvenage as his casket was accompanied by a group of bikers.
The bikers escorted the funeral procession from the funeral home to the church, and then back to the funeral home after the service.
The sight of the bikers, with their flags and motorcycles, was a powerful symbol of support for Duvenage and his family.
TMPD gave him a final salutation as well at the funeral.
He was known for tirelessly serving and protecting his community, displaying unwavering commitment and bravery in the face of adversity.
Some people described Duvenage as a true hero, and his absence will be felt deeply by all who knew him.
Above and beyond his professional duties, Duvenage touched countless lives through his selflessness and genuine care for others.
On Wednesday hundreds of people attended his memorial service and a candlelight session was held at the accident scene.
In her heartfelt words, Lydia Nixon, Duvenage’s mother, expressed her gratitude for the beautiful and meaningful send-off for her son.
She described how Duvenage will be greatly missed, and how God has provided comfort through the memories of their time together.
Nixon offered her thanks to everyone who supported the family during this difficult time, and expressed her belief that their love and kindness would carry the family through.
Her words were a testament to the deep love and respect that Duvenage was held in by his family and community.
