Four injured in Pretoria cash-in-transit heist

The heist happened near Eersterust on Friday evening.

Four people were injured during an apparent cash-in-transit heist on Stormvoël Road in Pretoria on Friday evening.

Details surrounding the heist are limited at this stage, but Emer-G-Med spokesperson Kyle van Reenen said they responded to the scene at approximately 18:00.

He said that upon arrival on scene, the armoured vehicle was found to have overturned and had been opened with the use of explosives. “Two security officers sustained moderate injuries. They were treated and stabilised on the scene before being taken to a nearby hospital for further care,” Van Reenen said.

“Two members of the public suffered minor injuries only and refused further care.”

Police had yet to comment by our time of publication.
