Boschkop police arrest suspected cyclists, joggers robbers
Victims robbed or attacked around Mooiplaats, Donkerhoek and Hazeldean areas are urged to visit the police station with case numbers of the incidents.
Police have arrested two people suspected of the armed robbery of cyclists and joggers east of Pretoria on Saturday, January 13.
According to provincial police spokesperson Colonel Mavela Masondo, Boschkop police made a breakthrough following an intelligence-driven operation involving private security companies and CPF.
“The arrests happened after police and local private security companies tracked the suspects for some time,” he said.
Mavela said the suspects were arrested at a local tavern.
“Information led police to a tavern, though the clientele were not happy to see the authorities.”
It is alleged that the suspects were found wearing stolen Security Armed Response uniforms, impersonating reaction officers.
The suspects were taken to their place of residence, and multiple weapons and stolen goods were found.
Masondo said the suspects appeared at Bronkhorstspruit magistrate’s court on Monday and were remanded in custody for further investigation.
“Currently the suspects are facing several armed robbery charges,” said Masondo.
He called on everybody who was robbed or attacked around Mooiplaats, Donkerhoek and Hazeldean to please visit the police station with case numbers of the incidents.
“This is to get the victim to identify the suspects or one of the weapons used in the attacks.”
