Pretoria has some cool events to add to your calendar this weekend

The Club Streetside Market, Hazelwood, March 14

The Streetside Market is back and starting with a bang as it is showcasing Elvis Blue for a night of phenomenal live entertainment.

The market boasts delicious food and drinks, arts and crafts, and is the place to spend quality time with friends and family.

It will start at 17:00 on Thursday and run until 22:00 at The Club in Hazelwood.

Jaid River and Jacob Funk, Colbyn, March 15

Come and enjoy an intimate night with two local artists as they share their stories, original music, and maybe even a couple of laughs.

The show at Café Barcelona will start at 18:30 and run until 21:00.

St Patrick’s Day, Pretoria, March 15-17

Luck of the Irish to you as venues across the city celebrate St Paddies Day this weekend.

Don the green and choose to feast at venues including Capital Craft, Jarr Bar, and The Tasting Room there’s a celebration venue for all tastes.

Goliat van Gat pumpkin festival, Silverton, March 16

Bring your whole family to marvel at this extreme pumpkin competition, where farmers from across South Africa will battle it out to see who has grown the biggest, ugliest or prettiest pumpkin.

This year marks the 20th instalment of this amazing competition as the judges are hoping to see a pumpkin weighing in at a ton.

The event will be complete with typical Boeremark stalls, a beer tent, and live music by Adam Tas and Abreu.

Weigh-ins start at 13:00 at the Boeremark grounds in Silverton, and will run until 18:30.

Ice Bath Challenge, Zwartkops Lapa Resort, March 16

Be part of this exciting event, where scores of people attempt to break the ice bath world record.

The day will start at 09:00 on Saturday, as the goal is to get 1 000 people through an ice bath for 1 minute.

Not into taking the chilly plunge? Supporters are welcome as the day also includes a pitching competition where one business idea could win R50 000, and where food stalls will cater for the whole family.

Kung Fu Panda meet and greet, March 16 and 17

This is one for the kids as Po from Kung Fu Panda tours the capital city.

Meet and greet Po at The Grove Mall on Saturday, March 16 from 11:00 and catch a pre-screening of the movie.

Can’t make Saturday? Luckily Po is still in town, this time at Irene Villiage Mall on Sunday from 10:00.
