Internet users have been hit with major downtime – reportedly linked to Microsoft Azure services.
Microsoft notified customers using its Azure Services in South Africa North and South Africa West on Thursday that they may experience increased network latency or packet drops when accessing their resources, along with degradation and availability issues.
“We are currently investigating a networking issue that has resulted in higher-than-expected latency for users whose resources are hosted in or connect with South Africa North and West,” it said.
Multiple users reported being unable to use internet services, including over networks like Vodacom.
The outage started around 12:30 on Thursday, 14 March 2024.
