Three killed, seven seriously injured on R55
Emergency responders had to cut free five people who were entrapped in the vehicle they were traveling in.

Three people were killed in an accident involving two vehicles, while two others sustained moderate injuries.
Emergency responders transported a further five people to hospital in a critical condition on Friday morning following a crash at the corner of the R55 and Lochner Road in Raslouw.

Cert-SA said in a statement that in the early hours of March 29, three people were killed and seven others were seriously injured when a light motor vehicle collided with a light utility vehicle.
“Upon arrival, it was found that several injured people were lying on and next to the road, and five people were entrapped in the vehicle they were travelling in.”

The non-profit emergency services said that the jaws of life were used to free patients from the wreckage with assistance from the Tshwane Emergency Services Department firefighters, and other service providers.
“Two people were transported to the hospital with moderate injuries, and five other people were transported in critical condition.”
Cert-SA said that the exact circumstances surrounding the incident were not clear at the time.
It said that the SAPS had opened an investigation into the accident.
