A man was severely injured with a panga at his business premises in Pretoria West.

According to Lifeguard Security Kobus Olivier, the incident happened at around 3:30 this morning at a plot on Van Der Hoff Road.

“It is believed four to six suspects cut the electric fence at the back before they entered the premises.

“They broke a window and stole a grinder and a panga at the first business before they broke into another business through the garage door where they took a cash register.”

Olivier said the intruders also stole a large plasma TV and various knives from the auction store next door.

He furthermore added that the owner of the premises was attacked with a panga or knife when he investigated the noises.

“The intruders intended to attack his head or neck and instead wounded him on the shoulder.

“His arm was severely injured, and he was taken to Eugene Marais Hospital by his wife for immediate surgery.”
