Upgrade to Philip Nel Park water supply network continues

Some areas in Pretoria West may experience a water supply disruption as the upgrade continues

The Tshwane metro announced in a statement that it would continue with the upgrade and connection to a water supply network in Philip Nel Park, in the west of Pretoria on Tuesday, April 23.

Spokesperson Lindela Mashigo said this is a follow-up from the initial upgrade and tie-in connection, which metro technicians carried out on January 30 on the network on the corner of Transoranje and Quagga roads.

“Although an interruption to the water supply will be avoided at all costs, it may occur for 10 hours,” he said.

He said following areas may experience a supply interruption occur from 08:00 to 18:00:

– Kwaggasrand
– Philip Nel Park
– Pretoria Industrial Township
– Pretoria Industrial
– Pretoria Town and Townlands 351-JR
– Proclamation Hill Ext 1
– Skinner Court 254-JR
– Van Zylslaagte 755-JR
– West Park Extension 4, 5, 6 and 7
– West Park

“Tshwane apologises profusely for the inconvenience that may be caused due to the above-mentioned upgrades.”

He urged residents to continue making the following water-conservation measures part of their normal lifestyle:

– Do not water or irrigate your garden with a hosepipe or sprinkler between 06:00 and 18:00

– Do not wash your vehicle with a hosepipe

– Do not refill your swimming pool

– Instal a low-flow shower head and tap aerators where possible

– Use a dual-flush toilet cistern
– Plant indigenous or drought-resistant shrubs in the garden

– Use a broom instead of a hosepipe to cleaning a driveway or patio

– Collect rainwater to reuse in the garden or wash the car

– Cover the swimming pool to reduce water evaporation

– Take a short shower rather than a bath

– Close the tap while brushing teeth or shaving

– Regularly check toilets and taps around the home for leaks
