Monday-hating and lasagna-loving orange furball visits Irene

The visit formed part of Garfield’s Gauteng character tour with Irene Village being one of his first stops.

Everyone’s favourite Monday-hating and lasagna-loving orange furball paid Irene shoppers a visit this weekend ahead of the highly-anticipated release of the movie in theatres on May 24.

Garfield stopped by Irene Village Mall on Saturday, May 11 to interact with fans ahead of the upcoming The Garfield Movie.

The visit formed part of Garfield’s Gauteng character tour, with Irene Village being one of his first few stops.

“I believe he covers all generations, he is from the 1990s when we were kids and now all adults can bring their kiddies and have a fun family day out because he’s loved by 80-year-olds down to eight-year-olds,” said Irene Village mall marketing director Shevaugh Nankervis.

Nankervis said fans can expect an adventurous and comical viewing experience on May 24 as Garfield is sad to meet his father in the movie. Audiences of all ages can expect a fun-filled experience with this animation.

Shoppers were excited to get a glimpse of the famous feline and long queues formed to grab a photo and a hug from him.
They could also win tickets to the opening night of the movie, compliments of Irene Village and Absolute Pets. Absolute Pets also hosted a spin-the-wheel raffle where contestants could win various prizes.

Irene Village looks forward to hosting the Minions later this year, as well as its quarterly vintage markets, the next being on June 16 – 1
