Help pet owners find dog stolen with car, reward offered
A family is offering a reward to anyone who will bring their dog home safely.
The owner of a nine-year-old Dutch Hound and Chihuahua mix-breed desperately needs assistance to find his dog.
The dog was inside a vehicle parked near Ferrum Pharmacy in Pretoria West on May 24 when the car was stolen.
According to the owner’s daughter, Sunnel Havenga, her father’s faithful companion, Kardoesie, was taken when their car was stolen after it was parked in the shade.
She said at the time, her father had quickly run into the pharmacy to buy vitamins when he left Kardoesie in the vehicle.
“The time stamp on the receipt shows the purchase was made at 10:34. When he returned to the car, Kardoesie was gone,” said Havenga.
“I picked him up and we drove all the streets in the area, calling her, looking and praying for her safe return,” Havenga said.
She said the vehicle registration to look out for was CJ 65 JZ GP.
She added that Kardoesie has been her father’s partner and reason to live since her mother’s passing 11 years ago.
“The two are inseparable, and Kardoesie would always accompany my father on his errands,” said Havenga.
“My father is not well. He has a serious heart condition. He is mostly in bed, too tired to get up. If he has the strength, he wakes up to see if Kardoesie is not waiting for him at the gate,” she said.

Havenga said the family has been working tirelessly with animal rescue organisations, such as K9 Dog Rescue Services to search for Kardoesie.
She said the family is also offering an undisclosed amount of money to anyone who can bring Kardoesie home.
“Despite numerous leads and a widespread social media campaign, Kardoesie remains missing 72 hours later,” said Havenga.
Police spokesperson Warrant Officer Johan van Dyk said a case was under investigation.
He said no arrests have been made at this stage.
