Tragic industrial accident claims life in Pretoria West

The deceased suffered severe multiple crush injuries when heavy machinery fell on him.

A devastating industrial accident claimed the life of a man in his 30s this morning at Eldocrete on 1501 Roger Dyson Road, Pretoria West Industrial.

The man was crushed when heavy machinery fell on him.

Tshwane Emergency Service Department acting spokesperson Lindsay Zwelithini Mnguni said the department received an urgent call and quickly dispatched crews to the industrial accident scene.

“Upon arrival, Tshwane Emergency Services teams found the SAPS Pretoria West and Netcare 911 personnel already attending to the man.”

The police and workers at the site have already moved the heavy machinery, which allowed for a swift recovery by the paramedics from the work site.

“The responders informed the emergency crew that the male victim had suffered severe multiple crush injuries and succumbed to his injuries before their arrival,” said Mnguni.

“The deceased was then handed over to the police and the Gauteng Provincial Government Forensic Pathologists for further examination.

“This incident highlights the inherent dangers present in industrial work environments and underscores the importance of stringent safety measures.”

Mnguni said authorities are expected to conduct a thorough investigation to determine the cause of the accident and to prevent such tragedies in the future.

“The Tshwane Emergency Services extends its deepest condolences to the family, friends, and colleagues of the deceased during this difficult time.”

Further details about the incident will be released as the investigation progresses.

“The tragic event serves as a stark reminder of the risks faced by industrial workers and the vital importance of workplace safety protocols to protect the lives of those working in such hazardous conditions.”
