Police hunt suspect after two gunned down in Mamelodi

The suspect fled the scene with an undisclosed amount of stokvel money after shooting the victims.

Police are looking for a suspect who allegedly shot and killed two men at Nkuna’s Pub and Grill, Tsamaya Road in Mamelodi on Sunday, August 4.

Police spokesperson Warrant Officer Johan van Dyk said the victims were part of a stokvel that socialised at the pub every Sunday.

He said on this particular Sunday, the group were socialising at the pub when an unknown suspect walked in and opened fire on them.

“The first victim was outside the pub when the suspect shot him twice in the head.”

Van Dyk added that the suspect then went inside the pub to shoot the second victim.

He said the deceased allegedly told the suspect he was there to drink and not to fight.

“He was also shot twice in the head.

“The victim had apparently tried to escape but fell down at the entrance steps,” he added.

Van Dyk said another man escaped.

He added that the suspect fled the scene on foot with an undisclosed amount of the stokvel money.

“Gauteng Emergency services declared both men dead on the scene,” said Van Dyk.

“Eleven cartridges and two projectiles were found,” he added.

The reason for the shooting is unknown.
