Eight-hour long water supply interruption for The Reeds extensions

The work on the water supply network is expected to take eight hours, from 8:00 until 16:00.

Several extensions in The Reeds will experience water supply interruptions on Tuesday, August 13.

This comes after the Tshwane metro announced its intention to carry out a tie-in connection to the network.

“Tshwane will conduct a tie-in connection on the water supply network at The Reeds on the corner of Panorama Road and Markotter Street,” said Metro spokesperson Lindela Mashigo.

Mashigo said the essential work is expected to take eight hours, from 08:00 until 16:00, and will affect all extensions in the suburb.

He urged residents to continue to make the following water-conservation measures part of their normal lifestyle:

– Do not water or irrigate your garden with a hosepipe or sprinkler system between 06:00 and 16:00.

– Do not wash your vehicle with a hosepipe.

– Do not refill your swimming pool.

– Install a low-flow shower head and tap aerators where possible.

– Use a dual-flush toilet cistern.

– Plant indigenous or drought-resistant shrubs in the garden.

– Use a broom instead of a hosepipe to clean a driveway or patio.

– Collect rainwater to re-use in the garden or wash the car.

– Cover the swimming pool to reduce water evaporation.

– Take a short shower rather than a bath.

– Close the tap while brushing teeth or shaving.

– Regularly check toilets and taps around the home for leaks.

“Residents are urged to continue using grey water to water gardens and flush toilets. Where possible, water-saving devices should be installed,” said Mashigo.

He added that residents can report water leaks, burst pipes, and all water wastage incidents to the following numbers:

– No water supply, burst pipes, leaking meters, or blocked street sewers: 012 358 9999 or 080 1111 556

– Illegal water connections: 012 358 9060

– Non-payment: 012 345 8514

– Account enquiries: 012 358 9999
