Motorbike owner suffers assault in Kloofsig
A 55-year-old Kloofsig woman was injured when she caught thieves red-handed trying to steal her motorbike on Wednesday morning.
A 55-year-old woman was injured early Wednesday morning while trying to stop the theft of her motorcycle at her home in Kloofsig.
According to Lyttelton CPF sector two patrol co-ordinator, Jacques van Staden, an emergency call was shared on the KROC network at about 04:30.
Van Staden said the call was to request assistance to prevent the theft of a motorcycle at a residential property in the Kloofsig area.
He added that shortly after the call, emergency medical assistance was requested to the scene.
Police, patrollers, community members and security officers immediately responded.
He said when they arrived on the scene, a 55-year-old woman was found to have sustained moderate injuries.
“[She was] stabilised on scene and transported to hospital.”
Security officers and police from Lyttelton SAPS gave chase to the suspects’ vehicle that fled at high speed.
He said the motorcycle was recovered after the suspects fled.
“Thanks to all responders as well as Lyttelton SAPS for their amazing turnaround time.”
CERT volunteer emergency services said the assailants allegedly assaulted the woman when she caught them attempting to steal a motorbike.
It said the patient was transported to a nearby hospital in stable condition.
