Police are asking the public to come forward with any information regarding an armed robbery that occurred on the N1 close to Carousel Plaza in the north of Pretoria on September 18.
According to police spokesperson Warrant Officer Johan van Dyk, the complainant alleged that she was travelling on the freeway in a white bakkie when they got a puncture before the Maubane offramp.
“The complainant said while they were busy fixing the tyre, they realised that they left a nut at home and called their son to bring it.
“While waiting, four suspects came out of the bushes and started shooting at them,” said Van Dyk.
Van Dyk said the suspects demanded cellphones and money while others searched the car.
“The suspects took two Samsung cellphones and an undisclosed amount of cash.
“They shot the lady in the leg and the husband in the abdomen and ran away into the bushes.”
He said the victims were taken to Steve Biko Hospital for medical attention.
