Three men were arrested in Centurion after a foiled house robbery plot involving a white Chevrolet bakkie.

According to a police spokesperson Warrant Officer Johan van Dyk, the Wierdabrug and Lyttelton SAPS, with the assistance of their E2 partners, which include local security companies and Community Policing Forums, received information regarding a white Chevrolet bakkie involved in several house robberies and burglaries in the area on Monday.

“The vehicle, containing three suspects, was reportedly attempting to commit a house robbery in Wierdapark and nearby areas.”

He said upon receiving details about the suspects and their vehicle, an operational plan was swiftly developed to track and apprehend the group.

“The vehicle was later spotted in Wierdapark, and the information was promptly shared with all relevant role players. A tactical takedown was successfully executed, leading to the arrest of the suspects in the Rooihuiskraal area.”

Van Dyk said a preliminary investigation at the scene revealed that the vehicle was fitted with false number plates.

In addition, housebreaking equipment and gloves were found in the suspects’ possession.

“The three men have been linked to multiple house robberies and burglaries. The investigation will continue to determine if they are involved in other criminal activities.”

Major-General Samuel Thine expressed his gratitude to all stakeholders for their dedication and highlighted the importance of community involvement in reducing crime.
