Integrated facility launched in Hammanskraal
The infrastructure is designed to be a comprehensive support centre for the community.

The Gauteng Department of Social Development unveiled the newly renamed Malesela Benjamin Moloise centre in Hammanskraal, north of Pretoria on October 17.
This state-of-the-art facility will provide essential services and resources to enhance the quality of life to the residents of Refentse.
According to MEC for Community Safety Faith Mazibuko, the facility is designed to be a comprehensive support centre for the community.
Among the various services it will offer are:
-Social service support where residents can access vital assistance from the Department of Social Development.
-Luncheon Club for senior citizens where a dedicated program aimed at providing nutritious meals and social interaction for older residents will be provided.
-The South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) will be establishing services within the facility to aid those in need.
-A substance abuse walk-in centre.
Mazibuko said it ws important for the community to become involved in the preservation of the facility.
“It is crucial that this infrastructure is protected by the community it is meant to serve
“I urge residents to take ownership of the centre to ensure that it remains a valuable resource for future generations,” said Mabizuko.

MEC Mabizuko highlighted the significance of accountability within non-profit organisations, encouraging older residents to be diligent when selecting leadership.
“Make sure you choose accountable individuals to run your NPOs properly, ensuring transparent and effective governance,” said Mazibuko.
The launch was greeted with enthusiasm, particularly among senior citizens.

Kgobisa Mopane, Chairperson of the Tshwane Older Persons Forum, praised the centre for its potential to empower the local community.
Mopane expressed gratitude for the opportunity it presents, stating, “As senior citizens, we are grateful for this opportunity.
“We plan to cultivate vegetables and run sewing projects within the centre as part of job creation and poverty alleviation efforts.
These income-generating programmes are aimed at fostering independence and improving the economic conditions for older residents.
The renaming of the facility in honour of Malesela Benjamin pays tribute to a leader whose positive influence continues to inspire change within the community.”
