Motorists advised to use alternative routes on Tuesday
Several streets will be closed in Tshwane tomorrow due to a march against violent crimes and murders happening in areas impacted by mining.
Tshwane metro police warn motorists about a march that will be affecting several streets in Tshwane on Tuesday.
According to TMPD spokesperson, Isaac Mahamba, Life after Coal will be marching against violent crime in areas impacted by mining.
He said the marchers will gather from 09:30 at Old Putco Depot in Marabastad then march to the Union Buildings.
Mahamba added that the route of the march is as follows: “From the gathering point, they will join Struben Street and proceed until they turn right onto Nelson Mandela Drive, then left onto Madiba Street to march until they arrive at the Union Buildings.”
He said they are expected to disperse from the Union Buildings at 13:00.

According to Mahamba, the following streets will be affected:
– Struben Street
– Cowie Street
– Kgosi Mampuru Street
– Bosman Street
– Sophie de Bryun Street
– Paul Kruger Street
– Thabo Sehume Street
– Lillian Ngoyi Street
– Du Toit Street
– Nelson Mandela Drive
– Madiba Street
– Steve Biko Road
– Hamilton Street
– Government Avenue
He advised motorists to use alternative routes, such as
– Eskia Mphahlele Drive
– Nana Sita Street
– Francis Baard Street
– WF Nkomo Street
– Bloed Street
“Tshwane metro police and South African Police Service officers will be deployed to monitor the march and all affected streets.”
