The TMPD led by Deputy Chief of Police Nomsa Nhlapho, executed a by-law operation in Soshanguve, north of Pretoria, aimed at ensuring small businesses complied with the regulations.
According to Tshwane Metro Police Department (TMPD) spokesperson Senior Superintendent Isaac Mahamba, the operation sought not only to enforce the law but also to educate business owners about the essential steps required to operate legally within the municipality.
Mahamba said the operation yielded impressive results, highlighting the department’s commitment to maintaining order and ensuring that businesses adhere to municipal regulations.
“Two businesses were shut down for non-compliance, demonstrating the seriousness with which the authorities approach violations of metro by-laws.
“Several counterfeit items were confiscated, contributing to efforts to combat illicit trade in the area,” said Mahamba.
He said a total of 37 Section 56 notices, totalling R26 000 in fines were issued to business owners in violation of the by-laws.
The proactive approach by the TMPD is crucial for fostering a safe and beneficial environment.
Nhlapho commended all members involved in the operation for their dedication and hard work.
“Their efforts are pivotal in creating a conducive environment for businesses to thrive while ensuring that community safety and standards are upheld.
“The enforcement of by-laws is not just about compliance; it’s about fostering a community where businesses can flourish responsibility,” said Nhlapho.
The TMPD’s determination to enforce metro regulations signified a commitment to the well-being of both businesses and the community at large.
