Community rallies to support Tshwane SPCA with food supply

“We are going to give something of the food to other SPCA that help us when we ran out of food.”

A charitable bike club recently donated three months’ worth of food supplies to Waltloo SPCA.

And about 40 members of the Krooked King South African Bikers Club came to the Waltloo SPCA to help offload eight tons of the food donation on October 19.
Members of Krooked Kings charity committee Jaco Fourie said they managed to raise 20 tons of food from club members, sponsors, and the community members.

“We had some adversity in getting to where we are today.

“We lost one of our brothers whom we missed dearly and had to do his memorial run on the original date; we planned for a year to donate on October 12,” said Fourie.

Jaco Fourie, vice president of Krooked Kings, together with Jannine Niemann from Tshwane SPCA and President of Krooked Kings, Michael Diers.

He said on Saturday they only delivered eight tons of food, which is 200 bags of 40kg each.

“The remaining 12 tons will be delivered to the SPCA during the week,” he said.

He said the idea was never to support one specific region. “The idea was to support one specific value in our society, and this year we felt the SPCA deserves a bit of upliftment.

“The fundraising was also made possible by JR Meat Wholesalers, who, from the word go, said whatever we buy in dog food, they will double it.”

Fourie believes the food they don

ated to the SPCA will last at least three months, and this will give the SPCA some time to fix other things that are needed.

Jeanine Nieman, director and events manager for the Tshwane SPCA, said the Krooked Kings reached out to the SPCA about their idea of donating food.

She said they ran their fundraiser through their Centurion branch, and their target was 10 tons of food supply.

Nieman said they were excited when they received a call from the club that they had reached 20 tons of food and were ready to deliver.

“We are going to give something of the food to other SPCA that helped us when we ran out of food.”

Nieman further pleaded with the public to help with donations to help run the SPCA by at least signing a monthly R100 debit order to Tshwane SPCA.
