Human Settlements MMC launches new West Housing Project

The project aims to bring over 1 000 new housing opportunities to the area.

The MMC for Housing and Human Settlements, Aaron Maluleka recently launched a new housing initiative in Andeon, west of Pretoria aimed at creating over 1 000 houses.

Maluleka said that the Andeon Ext 37 project will create over 1 100 housing opportunities and provide 1 113 serviced stands equipped with essential bulk and reticulated water and sewer services.

“A major component of the Andeon project involves the relocation of informal settlements, specifically those in Gomora, Melusi and Atteridgeville, into these serviced stands.
By providing proper infrastructure and housing, the city is taking a vital step towards ensuring that vulnerable communities have access to safe and secure living environments. This initiative reflects our commitment to sustainable development and the provision of essential services to all residents, creating a more inclusive city,” Maluleka explained.

Maluleka added that in addition to providing housing, the Andeon project is envisioned to generate numerous job and enterprise opportunities, contributing to the local economy and empowering residents.

“We look forward to witnessing the positive impact this initiative will have on our community and are dedicated to supporting its success,” he said.

The metro praises this development project aimed at addressing the pressing need for housing in communities as well as improving living conditions and the overall quality of life of residents in the area.

The metro has entered into a 36-month contract with Buzaphi Construction (Pty) Ltd to execute this ambitious project.
