Never give up on your dream, local muso says
Local music artist encourages the youth to never give up on their dreams.
Growing up with absent parents could not stop an artist from Mamelodi from reaching his dream.
Meet Lethabo Maimela (23) from Ext 5 in Mamelodi, who is known on stage as Jeep Jack Za.
Today he is one of the renowned South African rappers, songwriters, and producers who never gave up on his dream and made it without having his own music equipment.
Jeep Jack Za believes everyone can make it in life as long as there is passion and dedication.
“You can achieve everything you want in life.”
Maimela started his music career as a DJ and rapping at the age of 14 and later moved to producing at 16.
He started producing and perfecting his hip-hop and moved to being a professional producer of amapiano music.
He recently dropped three hit songs called “Dontsi”, “Mankoko” and “Letagwa Anthem”.
His goal in life is to inspire other artists, especially in the township, to never give up on their dreams of becoming superstars.
Speaking to Jeep Jack Za, he said he was raised by his grandmother because both his parents were taking drugs.
He had family issues, but still, he never let that get to him or derail him from reaching his goal in life.
Jeep Jack Za said both his parents were not there for him.
So he worked hard and focused on his music career and made it without having his own music equipment to work on his career.
“I had to rely on my friends’ studios to perfect my music career.”
Jeep Jack Za doesn’t have his own equipment because he couldn’t afford it but he clearly shows that he can do without it because he has passion.
He recently signed a music contract with Clava Entertainment, whose founder is Official Rsa from Kwa-Mhlanga.
He dropped his first album with eight tracks on September 26, featuring the famous Bob Mabena from Kwa-Mhlanga, Benzoo, and Outdoor.
“There is a lot of talent in the township and we have DJs who just need support from artists who made it in life,” he said.
He encouraged the youth of Mamelodi to stay away from crime and drugs.
“Rather keep yourself busy by participating in different sports activities while searching for your god-given hidden talents.”
