Emergency repairs to disrupt power in east
The emergency outage is scheduled from 09:00 until 17:00, when the metro will repair equipment damaged due to theft and vandalism at Heatherly substation.
The Blydes, Savannah Estate and Nellmapius Ext 7 and 8 will have no power on October 31, as the Tshwane Energy and Electricity Department plans to shut down operations temporarily.
There will be no power in these areas as it will be switched off for eight hours at the Heatherly substation in Mamelodi East.
Metro spokesperson Lindela Mashigo said the inevitable exercise is necessary to effect emergency repairs following acts of theft and vandalism at the substation, which have resulted in electrical equipment malfunction.
He said the emergency outage is planned from 09:00 until 17:00.
The following areas will be affected:
– The Blydes
– Savannah Estate
– Nellmapius Ext 7 and 8
