Search launched for missing Mamelodi woman
Her younger sister claimed she last saw her walking to catch a taxi to Nellmapius to visit their mother.
Mamelodi police need help in searching for Thandeka Mkhondo (32), who went missing in Nellmapius last month.
According to the information the police received from her younger sister, who reported her missing, Mkhondo was last seen on September 27 at around 19:00 when the two sisters walked to get Mkhondo a taxi to Nellmapius at their mother’s place.
Police spokesperson Sergeant Daphney Maila said the 32-year-old from Mamelodi East, Section SNS, was last seen wearing grey shorts, a white vest, a grey hat and grey sandals.
She said the following day, the complainant called her mother to check on her sister because she was complaining about back pains.
Her mother told her that Mkhondo never returned home.
“The complainant told the police that she looked for her sister almost everywhere – at friends and family members – and made calls searching for her without any success,” said Maila.
The sister is hopeful that Mkhondo would return home, but she has not done so yet.
“The family decided to report her missing at Mamelodi police station on October 28,” said Maila.
Her sister also said her sister used to hang around people using drugs.
The police advised the public there is no waiting period to report a missing person.
Anyone with information regarding the missing woman’s whereabouts is requested to call Mkhondo on 068 024 3231 or the Mamelodi SAPS or Crime Stop on 08600 10111.
Alternatively, members of the public can send information via the MySAPS App or the detective sergeant on 079 890 7096.
