Visit local parks this festive season
Metro facilities charge minimum entrance fees, though pensioners and disabled residents receive discounts.
The Tshwane Metro is encouraging residents to enjoy some of the local parks in the city this festive season.
The call was recently made by the MMC for Environment and Agriculture, Councillor Obakeng Ramabodu, who also implored residents to play their part in maintaining cleanliness.
“Our facilities offer a perfect getaway for individuals, families and groups looking for an ideal opportunity to relax and enjoy the beauty of nature and the environment,” Ramabodu said.
“Our facilities boast a high standard of cleanliness and a safe environment, with the necessary infrastructure for waste disposal. I urge all people accessing our facilities to maintain a high standard of cleanliness and hygiene by using all necessary facilities provided to keep our environment clean.”
Some of the municipal parks and resorts the metro recommends visiting, include:
– Bronkies Angling Area
– Derdepoort Resort
– Die Draai Resort
– Fountains Valley Resort
– Ga-Mothakga Resort
– Joos Becker Caravan Park
– Klip-Kruisfontein Resort
– Kwaggaspruit Resort
– Moretele Resort
– Rietviel Angling Area
– Rooihuiskraal Historical Terrain
– Zwartkops Resort.
“Keeping the environment safe for present and future generations starts with taking responsible action to ensure that our immediate surroundings, including parks and resorts, are always kept clean,” Ramabodu said.
Minimum entrance fees are charged though pensioners and disabled residents receive discounts.
Metro facilities are strictly cashless facilities and Ramabodu cautioned any metro worker stationed at their parks/resorts who is caught accepting cash will face disciplinary action.
“No city employee is allowed to ask for cash at any of our facilities. Any employee found engaging in corrupt activities will face disciplinary actions as outlined in the relevant municipal policies. Residents are encouraged to come forward and report city employees who take cash payments from members of the public,” Ramabodu said.
