Here is the official petrol price for December
The latest fuel price adjustments, implemented by the Department of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, have taken effect.
The Department of Petroleum and Mineral Resources implemented the latest fuel price adjustments on Wednesday, 4 December 2024.
A weaker rand and rising global diesel prices in November contributed to under-recovery in both petrol and diesel, prompting the second consecutive month of price hikes.
As of yesterday, petrol prices for 93 and 95 octane increased by 17 cents per litre, while diesel saw a substantial rise of between 54.88 and 55.88 cents per litre.
According to the Central Energy Fund, average international product prices for petrol decreased, while prices for diesel and illuminating paraffin increased during the review period.
Despite the drop in international petrol prices, the rand’s depreciation against the US dollar offset potential savings. The average exchange rate for the rand against the dollar was 17.9256 between November 1 and November 28, 2024, compared to 17.5301 in the previous period.
