Murder-accused traffic officer case to continue in February
Zakhele Bennet Hlongwane is facing a charge of premeditated murder of his wife, as well as a charge of pointing a firearm and housebreaking with intent to murder.
The Mamelodi Magistrate’s Court has postponed the murder case of a Gauteng traffic officer accused of killing his wife (33) to February 5 next year.
Zakhele Bennet Hlongwane (53) will remain in police custody.
Hlongwane is facing charges of premeditated murder, pointing a firearm and housebreaking with intent to murder. He was denied bail on July 19.
On April 1, the accused allegedly went to the victim’s home in Mamelodi, broke open the door and shot her multiple times in the presence of their five- and three-year-old children.
Hlongwane subsequently handed himself over to Mamelodi police and has been in custody since.
