Three, including six-year-old injured after gunfire erupts at Eastwood Tavern

The suspect is expected to appear before Pretoria Central Magistrate's Court for attempted murder.

Two adults, including a minor, had to receive urgent medical attention following a shooting at Eastwood Tavern on Sunday afternoon, December 15.

According to police, the suspect has been arrested and is expected to appear before Pretoria Central Magistrate’s Court.

Gauteng police spokesperson Mavela Masondo said at about 19:00, a group of football supporters arrived at Eastwood Tavern’s parking lot in two Toyota Quantums after attending a CAF Champions League match at Loftus Versfeld Stadium.

Masondo said they were allegedly playing loud music from one of the cars when a security officer armed with a rifle approached them.

“The security guard ordered them to lower the music, and a scuffle ensued,” said Masondo.

“The guard pepper-sprayed some of them, and when attacked, he fired several shots.”

Masondo added that two adult men and a six-year-old child sustained injuries and were taken to the hospital to receive medical attention.

He said one man was shot in the right thigh, one in the right leg, and the child who was sitting inside the Quantum in the left arm.

“The police responded and arrested the suspect on the scene and charged him with attempted murder.”
