Here is your Stage 3 load-shedding schedule

Eskom has issued an alert of stage three load shedding following over ten months of uninterrupted power supply.

Tshwane Metro has announced the load-shedding schedule for February 1, affecting multiple areas throughout the day.

This comes after Eskom issued a load-shedding alert after over 10 months of uninterrupted electricity supply.

Power cuts are set to occur in two-and-a-half-hour intervals.

Here is Tshwane’s load-shedding schedule for February 1:

-Group 6, 10, 14: 10h00-12h30

-Group 7, 11, 15: 12h00-14h30

-Group 8, 12, 16: 14h00-16h30

-Group 9, 13, 1: 16h00-18h30

-Group 10, 14, 2: 18h00-20h30

-Group 11, 15, 3: 20h00-22h30

The power utility Group Chief Executive, Dan Marokane, said this is a potentially temporary setback.

“Load shedding is largely behind us due to the structural improvements in our generation fleet. However, over the past seven days, we have experienced several breakdowns that require extended repair times.”

Marokane said this necessitated using all our emergency reserves, which now need to be replenished.

“Consequently, we are closely monitoring the status of our current emergency reserves, and load shedding up to stage 4 may be implemented over the weekend.” He added that Eskom will issue further updates in due course.

Last month, Eskom said the focused execution of the Generation Recovery Plan continues to deliver, as load shedding was suspended for 303 consecutive days, since March 26 last year.

“A further substantial milestone of 300 days without load shedding was reached on January 21 and 10 months without load shedding will be achieved on January 26, further demonstrating the progress in Eskom’s turnaround strategy,” said Marokane.

He continued, “Year-to-date diesel savings (on a year-on-year basis) are currently at R16.40 billion, which is about 62.4% less than the R26.26 billion spent during the same period last year.”

It added that last August, Eskom shared its summer outlook from September 1 to March 31, predicting a likely scenario of load-shedding-free summer due to structural generation improvement.
