DJ helps up and coming artists find their feet
The local DJ is giving young talents the chance to record at his studio for free.
Well-known DJ, producer and sound engineer Louis Semenya believes there is a lot of talent in Mamelodi.
The 35-year-old known as “Louis Lunch” from Mamelodi West section D1 is helping up and coming artists and vocalists by giving them a chance in his studio to showcase their music talents for free.
Speaking to Louis Lunch, he said his music career started during his school days.
He said his career was triggered when he started questioning how music was made or how sounds came out of the speakers.
“I told myself that I am going to make my own music, that’s where my passion for music and producing songs started.”
Louis Lunch said his interest grew and in 2008 he started producing hip hop music, until his cousin introduced him to house music.
In his career, he has produced three hit songs and worked with the likes of DJ Nico Loco on the song “7 Steps of Fun”. On his second hit, “Reasons & You”, he worked with DJ Lady Zama and Junior Paurus.
During the making of his third album, Shumayela, he worked with KF Groove and Decency.
Louis Lunch also said he believes in young artists, because there is a lot of talent if they get the right mentors.
He is currently working with artist couples and believes in sharing his talent because he wants to see young talents grow in the industry, doing their own thing.
He said his DJ career started blossoming when a friend, Katlego Sewate, took him along to DJ at weddings, 21st birthday parties and local pubs.
Louis Lunch wants to do the same for upcoming artists by giving them a chance in his studio, providing a platform to showcase their talent as well as making sounds for them for free.
His message to the youth is that drugs have never been good for anyone and peer pressure has destroyed many lives.
“Keep pushing for what you want in life, don’t forget your dreams and stay away from drugs,” said Louis Lunch.
He is currently working on something big: a single track with DJ Calvin Fallo, to be launched around March.
