Kospotjie competition to aid Yana House

Yana House is a facility in Rietfontein that provides support and residency for persons diagnosed with schizophrenia.

The Yana Potjie Kos competition took place at Toutrek Park in Rietfontein on Saturday.

The competition was a fundraising event for the Yana House a facility in Rietfontein that provides support and a roof for persons diagnosed with schizophrenia.

Linda Prinsloo from Yana House said the Potjie Kos competition is an annual fundraising event for the house.

“A variety of delectable foods was produced for those who attended,” said Prinsloo.

The day started around 09:00 and seven teams had to compete for the title of the best potjiekos.

She said the judges for this year’s competition were Terry Chapman from Reef Catering, Dawie Roodt and Charl Groenwald.

The overall winner of the competition was the “Braai Is Beter” team.

There was also live music by Zelly Shy, Jaco Swanepoel and Duane Lightfoot.
