Possible water supply interruption in Pretoria east on Thursday

Work is scheduled on a pipeline along Rosslyn Avenue from 08:00 to 16:00.

Tshwane has warned the residents of Pretoria east about a planned water supply interruption on April 3, in Waterkloof Glen and neighbouring areas.

Metro spokesperson Lindela Mashigo said technicians will upgrade a pipeline in the supply network along Rosslyn Avenue in Waterkloof Glen.

The work is scheduled to take eight hours from 08:00 to 16:00.

He said the work will result in supply interruptions in the following areas:

– Ashley Gardens

– De Beer

– Newlands Ext 1, 2 and 8

– Waterkloof Glen Ext 2, 8 and 11

– Hatfield Christian Church and School

– Kingswood Village

– Menlyn Villa

– Newlands Park Retirement Village

– Newlands Centre

– Newlands Mews

– Summit Place

“Tshwane apologises profusely for the inconvenience that may be caused as a result of the above-mentioned work,” said Mashigo.

Residents are urged to make use of the following water-saving tips:

– Do not water or irrigate gardens with hosepipes or sprinkler systems between 06:00 and 18:00.

– Do not wash vehicles with hosepipes.

– Do not fill swimming pools.

– Use grey water to water gardens and flush toilets.

– Report water leaks, burst pipes and all incidents where water is wasted.

– Install water-saving devices, where possible.

Residents are also urged to make water conservation tips part of their everyday lives post-maintenance work:

– Install a low-flow shower head and tap aerators where possible.

– Use a dual-flush toilet cistern.

– Plant indigenous or drought-resistant shrubs in the garden.

– Use a broom instead of a hosepipe when cleaning driveways or patios.

– Collect rainwater to reuse in the garden or wash the car.

– Cover the swimming pool to reduce water evaporation.

– Take a shower rather than a bath.

– Close a running tap while brushing teeth or shaving.

– Regularly check toilets and taps for leaks.
