Award-nominated gospel group embraces Easter with new soul-stirring album, single
The 22-track album is a bold and honest reflection of the group’s journey, rooted in faith, anchored in truth, and overflowing with gratitude for God’s unwavering goodness.
Coinciding with the Easter observance period, a time of joy and spiritual renewal for many South Africans, worship collection musical group Mmuso Worship will unveil their fifth album, Testify and a new single on April 18.
Mmuso Worship is based in Silverton and is known for its heartfelt, passionate worship tunes.
The musicians are looking to release a soul-reviving album accompanied by their single “Ebenezer”, featuring the incredible and gifted Idols Season 14 winner Yanga Sobetwa.
According to Pastor Koketso Molaolwe, the single serves as a powerful introduction to their upcoming album.
He said the single was a highlight in their winning season the previous year.
“We got the notice from big industry players and even got nominated for a Metro FM award for Best Gospel. With this song, we recognise that we couldn’t have achieved any without the help of God.”
Molaolwe shared that this album differs from their previous album.
“Notably, all of our albums have less than 12 songs on them and this time we are releasing a 22-track album.
“Generally, our albums feature mostly slow songs, but this time we have mostly up-tempo songs. This is because this is a praise album; it is a celebratory album. With this, we testify to the goodness of God,” he said.
He emphasised the inspiration behind the track and how it reflects the collective’s journey.
“At the beginning of 2024, as a church, we trusted God for our own church building as we had been renting for above four years, and it was not sustainable.
“We found a place that required us to raise R7-million within four weeks. By God’s grace, we managed to raise the money, and this inspired us to put together this album,” said Molaolwe.
He said the group hopes listeners take a moment to acknowledge all that God has done for them and never miss a moment to tell others about the goodness of God after listening to the album.
He also relayed the challenges they came across and how that helped them to shape their sound and message.
“Recording our music without a live audience won’t make sense, and I will lose ‘touch’.
“This has been a big challenge for us as we rely on self-funding and donations as a method of fundraising. This has strengthened our reliance on God as a team,” he said.
He said the worship team facilitates worship moments during their service, creating an environment for those who are far from God to draw closer to him.
Mmuso Worship is planning to tour all nine provinces to strengthen their prominence and proximity.
