Sunnyside streets affected by planned march today
Certain streets will be affected today in Sunnyside due to a planned march by the residents to demand clarity on local tenders allegedly awarded without public participation. Here is the list of the affected streets.
The Tshwane Metro Police Department (TMPD) has advised motorists to avoid certain streets today in Pretoria due to a planned march by the Sunnyside community on May 21.
The purpose of the march is due to concerns raised by residents over the awarding of tenders in the area without proper public participation.
According to TMPD, the marchers will gather at Jubilee Park in Sunnyside from 10:00 and then proceed to the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI).
The route of the march is as follows: From the gathering point marchers will join Kotze street then turn right onto Steve Biko Road, then left onto Robert Sobukwe Street, then right onto Meintiies Street until they reach their destination at Department of Trade and Industry (DTI).
The following streets will be affected:
-Troye Street
-Kotze Street
-Steve Biko Road
-Robert Sobukwe Street
-Meintjies Street.
Motorists are advised to use these alternative roads:
-Francis Baard Street
-Leyds street
-Rissik Street
-Nelson Mandela Drive.
