High-speed chase ends in arrest at Lynnwood Bridge
A swift effort between security companies and police led to the arrest of a suspect linked to a Sinoville theft case and the recovery of laptops and phones.
A suspect was arrested following a high-speed pursuit that ended at Lynnwood Bridge on May 27.
According to police spokesperson Captain Johan van Dyk, the suspect was found with two stolen laptops and cellphones.
He said the individual has been linked to a theft case reported in Sinoville earlier this month.
“The suspect is in detention and has been linked to a Sinoville case reported in May. Investigation continues to determine whether the suspect is linked to other crimes.”
Jarad Frimmel, spokesperson for the Old East Safety Forum, said police were alerted to a vehicle involved in a recent theft entering their operational area.
“An extensive search was launched, and the vehicle was located as it attempted to flee towards the highway,” he said.
“After a brief pursuit and excellent teamwork, the suspect was stopped at Lynnwood Bridge.”
He said the vehicle had cloned number plates, with the original hidden inside.
Frimmel added that stolen goods were recovered during the arrest.
Security teams involved included Axon Security, Bidvest Protea Coin (Airwing), CSI Security, Emer-G-Med, Fidelity, FirstHelp Towing, Gauteng Traffic Wardens, Hatfield CID, Interactive Security, SAPS Brooklyn, and the Old East Safety Forum.
