Pretoria water outage: Where to find water from today

As the planned water shutdown begins today, a list of designated water collection points has been made available.

large-scale water shutdown will hit major parts of Pretoria from Thursday following a planned water interruption by Rand Water and the Tshwane Metropolitan Municipality.

The shutdown is part of essential infrastructure repair work.

However, communities are being warned to brace for significant disruptions as key reservoirs will be cut off.

AfriForum has stepped in, establishing a network of emergency water distribution points to help residents cope during the outage.

Meanwhile, AfriForum has condemned the Tshwane metro’s track record of reactive crisis management, saying this outage is yet another example of poor planning and neglect.

“The metro jumps into action only once a crisis erupts. That’s why we plan ahead — to ensure communities are resilient and ready,” said Arno Roodt, AfriForum District Coordinator for Greater Pretoria South.”

He stressed that strong communities working together are essential in navigating government failures.

“The city often lets us down, but united communities seldom do.”

AfriForum also warns that this outage is merely a preview of deeper infrastructure failures looming over Tshwane. They are calling on residents, families, and businesses to start preparing now by establishing local emergency plans.
