Planned march today in Mamelodi

The metro police warn residents and motorists to be aware of the march that will affect streets in Mamelodi. Soil of Africa organisation will be marching to Tshwane Automotive Special Economic Zone (TASEZ) over employment issues.

Motorists are advised to avoid several streets in the east of Pretoria on Tuesday due to a planned march by the Soil of Africa Organisation.

The purpose of the march is attributed to employment issues, as participants will be marching to the Tshwane Automotive Special Economic Zone (TASEZ).

They are protesting the unfair dismissal of employees and for permanent contracts.

According to the Tshwane Metro Police Department (TMPD), the marchers will gather at Solomon Mahlangu Square from 09:00 and proceed to the Tshwane Automotive Special Economic Zone (TASEZ).

The route of the march is as follows:

From the gathering point, they will join Shabangu Street, turn left onto Maphalla Street, join Waltloo Road, left onto Simon Vermooten Road, turn left at Alwyn Street and proceed straight until they reach gate 4 at TASEZ.

TMPD spokesperson Isaac Mahamba said the marchers are expected to disperse from TASEZ at 13:30.

The following streets will be affected:

– Shabangu Street

– Maphala Street

– Tsamaya Avenue

– Simon Vermooten Street

– Waltloo Road

– Alwyn Street

Motorists are advised to use alternative routes such as:

– Kubone Drive

– Boundary Road

– Ntsieng Drive

– Ledwaba Street

– Mathibe Street

– Dr Ribeiro Drive

Mhamba said the TMPD and SAPS officers will be deployed to monitor the march and all affected streets.
