Mams community to benefit from donated clothes

A good Samaritan has donated clothes to the Tsalanang organisation in support of the work they are doing for the Mamelodi community.

The clothes were donated by Sphiwe Molekwa from Baviaanspoort on Sunday.

The organisation’s chairperson, Tshepo Ramoncha, said the donations came just at the right time.

He said Tsalanang was formed to uplift the community by dealing with social issues, including unemployed youth.

He added that they will make sure the clothes go to people who desperately need them, especially now in winter.

“We are currently seeking donations of building materials to help renovate our new drop-in centre in Phomolong.”

An old pre-school facility was recently donated to them, and they plan to transform it into a drop-in centre, haven, and nurturing space for vulnerable children in Phomolong.

“The organisation aims to uplift and make a difference in the lives of individuals, children, and families,” said Ramoncha.

He pleaded with people to support the organisation and help work together to support this cause and uplift those in need.

Tsalanang is a non-profit organisation formed in March last year and has already made its mark by covering school books and making sure that underprivileged children get new school shoes.

The clothes will keep children warm, and the organisation has been encouraged to continue doing a good job of helping families who are struggling to put food on the table.

“Our mission is to bring change within our community by helping disadvantaged families with food parcels and making sure schoolchildren have what they need to go to school,” said Ramoncha.

“The organisation was started after observing many families were struggling, children going to school with torn school uniforms, some without uniforms, and the youth slowly dying from drug abuse, HIV, and teenage pregnancies.”

“This incredible support will help us raise funds to purchase sanitary pads for young girls in need,” said Ramoncha.

“We have lined up a lot of activities that will uplift and give hope to the community of Mamelodi.”

Other community projects Tsalanang is busy with include raising awareness of bullying and drugs, and encouraging learners to follow their dreams undistracted by their unfortunate background and poverty.

Tsalanang has also partnered with other organisations in Mamelodi to help schoolchildren and the community.

“This initiative reflects our ongoing commitment to supporting those in need and fostering a spirit of generosity,” said Ramoncha.
