Reminder – SASSA payment dates for March 2026

Grants will be paid on staggered dates in the first week of March — and beneficiaries are urged to avoid scams and use official channels only.

SASSA has published its March 2026 grant payment schedule, with payments again set to roll out on staggered dates in the first week of the month. Beneficiaries are reminded that funds will remain available after payment day and are urged to remain alert to scams and to rely only on official SASSA communication.

Here are the payment dates:

  • Older Persons Grant – Tuesday, 3 March 2026
  • Disability Grant – Wednesday, 4 March 2026
  • Children’s Grants – Thursday, 5 March 2026

    Sassa grant amounts:

    • Old Age Grant (60-74 years) and Disability Grant – R2 315
    • Old Age Grant (75 years and older) – R2 335
    • War Veterans Grant – R2 315
    • Care Dependency Grant – R2 315
    • Child Support Grant – R560
    • Foster Care Grant – R1 250
    • Social Relief of Distress (SRD) Grant – R370

The agency furthermore said beneficiary biometric verification is a security measure used to confirm a person’s identity through unique biological traits such as fingerprints or facial recognition.

It explained that these traits are authenticated by matching them against records captured by the Department of Home Affairs when an identity document was issued.

SASSA said the process is aimed at protecting public funds and ensuring grants are paid to the correct recipients.

“This process helps prevent identity theft, fraud and the misuse of social assistance,” the agency said.

SASSA also reminded beneficiaries that COVID-19 Social Relief of Distress (SRD) payments for December 2025 were made between December 19 and 24, 2025.
