Armed robbers nabbed in Hatfield shortly after robbing liquor outlet

The vehicle, used in the commission of other robberies, was tracked to Hatfield.

Two suspects linked to multiple armed robberies across Pretoria have been arrested following a co-ordinated operation in Hatfield.

The arrest took place at the corner of Hilda and Park streets, outside a liquor store, after allegedly robbing it.

According to a statement by ProShield, a white VW Polo Vivo used by the suspects in several robberies was identified and tracked into the Hatfield area.

Proshield said the very same vehicle was used in the commission of a robbery in October 2025.

“A thorough investigation was conducted to identify the suspects. We received information about a white VW Polo Vivo that was used in that robbery and numerous other armed robberies throughout Pretoria,” the statement read.

Proshield said a team followed up on the information, and the vehicle was later spotted entering Hatfield.

“A joint response led to the interception of the vehicle shortly after the suspects had robbed the Pick n Pay Liquor store in Hatfield at gunpoint. Two suspects were apprehended on the scene.”

Authorities recovered stolen liquor, cash and a replica firearm in the suspects’ possession during a search.

The same vehicle and suspects are believed to be linked to several other incidents, including an earlier robbery in Sunnyside, a previous robbery at the same liquor store in Hatfield and an armed robbery in the Moot area last week.

Proshield said SAPS and the Local Criminal Record Centre (LCRC) processed the scene.

“The suspects were taken to the Brooklyn police station, where a case has been opened, while the vehicle was impounded for further investigation.”

The operation was a joint effort involving SAPS, VumaCam, Fidelity ADT, Peaceforce, Bidvest Protea Coin, Anubis, ProShield, Omega and the Hatfield City Improvement District (CID).
