CSI Security and Lynnwood Glen Estate joined forces on September 12 to repair and fill potholes across the estate to improve road safety and address a growing concern among residents.
Members of CSI Security helped repair potholes after residents raised concerns about deteriorating roads and delays in getting the metro to address the issues.
Gerhard Rossouw, CSI Security operations manager, said the initiative was driven by the need to contribute to the safety and upkeep of the community where the company operates.
“Community safety is not limited to responding when something goes wrong. It is also about being proactive and investing time and effort into the places and people we are entrusted to protect,” said Rossouw.
Residents of Lynnwood Glen Estate said they had previously reported the potholes and escalated the issue to the metro, with assistance from the ward councillor, but little progress had been made.

Rossouw said the deteriorating roads were becoming a safety risk, particularly with the rainy season approaching.
“The potholes were also a concern for motorists and security personnel who rely on the roads to move through the area,” he continued.
Rossouw said the repairs were focused on potholes within the Lynnwood Glen Estate area.
However, he acknowledged that CSI Security did not have sufficient material to repair every pothole identified by residents.
“Unfortunately, we didn’t have enough to fix everything, but at least it’s a start. It’s something. It’s a start, and it’s not for us; it’s for the community.”
Residents welcomed the intervention but said more needs to be done across the area.
The initiative comes as communities increasingly rely on partnerships between residents, private security companies and municipal structures.
“For CSI Security, the pothole repairs form part of its broader community service efforts, with the company maintaining that safer communities require more than security patrols and emergency responses.”
Rossouw said the initiative demonstrated the importance of taking practical steps to improve the environment in which residents, visitors and security personnel live and work.
The estate and CSI Security hope the intervention will contribute to safer movement through the area.
