Hirsch’s opens eighth homestore in Gauteng

The store in Montana, Tshwane, is due to open at the end of the month in one of Hirsch's fastest-growing areas. It is 30% larger than the Strubens branch.

Hirsch’s is set to open its eighth Hirsch’s Homestore in Gauteng, and 14th nationally – in Montana, Tshwane, at the end of October – just in time for Black Friday!

Hirsch’s is the largest independently owned appliance and electronics retail outlet in Southern Africa.

It also powers six Samsung concept stores around the country and a Smeg concept store in Constantia in the Western Cape.

Renowned for its service and the fact that each branch has its own spares and repairs division, Hirsch’s was founded 44 years ago by Allan Hirsch and his wife Margaret in a tiny showroom in Umhlanga Rocks Drive in KZN.

It has since grown into a multi-billion rand company.

Commenting on their new Montana store in Northern Tshwane, Executive Director of Hirsch’s, Margaret Hirsch said “as a business we continue to grow and we are always looking at new areas where people are buying houses and need to have an appliance store nearby”.

Margaret Hirsch said they have been delighted to see the progress in all the areas where they have built their stores. “From the days when we first moved into Fourways and our neighbours were 1 000 ostriches, to the massive expansion taking place in the area today, to building our branch at Strubens Valley when it was farmland and is now a bustling part of the city,” she said.

“When we moved to Centurion, the Amberfield complexes hadn’t even begun and now it’s a massive community. We are also in old established areas like Meadowdale and Hyde Park.”

She said Tshwane was one of the fastest-growing and safest areas to live in in South Africa at present, and it made sense to open the Montana store.

“A while ago, we opened our Silverlakes branch in Tshwane and the growth in this area has gone from strength to strength. The new branch is in close proximity to the Zambezi Junction shopping mall and only 2km away from the Kollonade mall shopping centre.”

The store is 12 747sqm, of which 2 399 is shop floor, 2 454 warehouse and the difference parking, gardens and general use. Hirsch’s Montana is 30% larger than Hirsch’s Strubens and 26% bigger than Fourways.

“We have plenty of free parking and offer the best selection of household appliances, electronics, beds and furniture in the greater Tshwane area. We have a massive warehouse and deliver daily right round the country,” she concluded.
